First things first...no, I didn't jump ship after last night's loss.
But I did learn a couple of things:
1. Never, under any circumstances, assume that Ohio State is a "sure thing"
2. Don't make bets with your neighbors
On the up side, at least it gave me something to add to the blog!

This is a cake I made for my friend Gordon's birthday. Lemon cake with lemon pudding filling and lemon frosting under the fondant. Delicious!

Back in Business!
Hey ya'll! I'm trying to get back into the swing of things by baking some more cakes! I'm going to have one coming up this week for a friend's birthday, so stay tuned for that! In the meantime, here are pictures of a couple of other cakes I did this year.
Party cake for Isabel's first birthday.
The smaller cake for the birthday girl to play in!
These were two of my first cakes that were mostly buttercream.
Kingston's First Birthday skull cake.
Hunter's surfing themed birthday cake.

Buckeye Cake!
I made my first 3-tier cake this weekend for Bill Mount's birthday party! I decided to make it an Ohio State themed cake since anyone who knows Bill knows that he is a diehard fan. (As am I, so this quickly became my FAVORITE cake!)
I learned a lot about stacking cakes with this one, so I'm glad I got the opportunity to make it!
Check out the pictures below!
All fondant, except for the Buckeyes...they are just mini Buckeye cookies.

Bridal Shower
I made these last two cakes for a bridal shower. This time I tried using gum paste to make the calla lilies...I think it was quite a success! I'm hoping to continue working with gum paste to make some different types of flowers...we'll see how it goes!
The Calla Lily cake is definitely my favorite to date.
A Treat for the Kids!
I made these mini-cakes with some new cake pans I bought...they allow you to put a filling in the center of the cake easily. I LOVE THESE! The cakes are super cute and would be perfect as a party favor. Again, I used the flower cutter, but I changed up the design a little for each of the cakes.
These were also chocolate cake with raspberry filling.
