Bridal Shower

I made these last two cakes for a bridal shower.  This time I tried using gum paste to make the calla lilies...I think it was quite a success!  I'm hoping to continue working with gum paste to make some different types of flowers...we'll see how it goes!

The Calla Lily cake is definitely my favorite to date.

A Treat for the Kids!

I made these mini-cakes with some new cake pans I bought...they allow you to put a filling in the center of the cake easily.  I LOVE THESE!  The cakes are super cute and would be perfect as a party favor.  Again, I used the flower cutter, but I changed up the design a little for each of the cakes.

These were also chocolate cake with raspberry filling.

Getting better!

I tried something different for my third round...I made a birthday cake for my friend, Jenny, and she wanted chocolate with raspberries.  I decided to do a chocolate cake layered with raspberry filling...it was DELICIOUS!  This was also the first time I used my flower cutter...you'll see that so far it's one of my favorite ways to decorate.

The raspberry filling was difficult to work with the first time, but I learned a lot while doing it and figured out a way to make it much easier for the next time around.

This one is still one of my favorites!

Round Two...

After the Super Bowl cakes I made one for a Mardi Gras party...

Again, this is an 8" round cake...I'm pretty sure this one was vanilla.

My first time...with fondant!

The first time I tried using fondant was for a Super Bowl party.  I made "Colts Cupcakes" and a "Saints Cake".  I think I probably made the entire process harder on myself than I needed to, but I was very happy with the results.
